Second Gear Club Press Release

The Second Gear Club announces 2017 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to take place on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 7:00PM located in Calgary, AB.  Venue to be confirmed.

Primary agenda will include nomination and voting of new executive.  If you are interested in being a part of the future of the Second Gear Club, please attend.  All nominations will take place at AGM.  Nominees must be nominated by another member.  All nominees must be a SGC member and present to be considered.  No nominations prior to the meeting will be accepted.  

Unfortunately after much discussion, should the following five executive positions not be filled at the AGM, the Second Gear Club will be dissolved.  The current executive will complete their terms at the end of 2017.

New Executive positions, with brief description, to be filled at AGM:

  • President

o    Leader and ambassador of the Second Gear Club’s mandate

o    Club branding

o    Sponsorship, fund-raising, OHV advocacy i.e. ESRD stewardship

o    Team builder and manager of executive team and committees

o    Co-ordinate motorcycle shows, and other club promotion i.e. trials demos

  • Vice President

o    To assist President on all matters

  • Secretary/Treasurer/eDirector

o    Minutes of meetings

o    Update website and social media with news and events

o    Responsible for sending information to membership via email or otherwise

o    Maintaining membership

o    Maintaining s/w and access, and domain hosting and email 

o    Maintaining bank account

o    Respond and direct club email, calls and website inquiries

  • Race Director (role to be shared with Co-Race Director)

o    Oversee sub-committees for events

o    Responsible for the co-ordination, management and training of volunteers

o    Responsible for timing system and score keeping and the training of same

o    Responsible for event approvals and permits and general event co-ordination

o    Submission of results, competition memberships and event insurance fees to sanction body i.e. CMA

o    Co-ordination of trophies/awards

  • Co-Race Director

o    To assist Race Director on all matters

Other roles such as Course Master, Riding School Director, Banquet Committee, event specific committees etc. will be decided at a later date.  Please feel free to express your interest to be involved at the AGM.

The Second Gear Club is 18 years strong; a club/membership built on families, the promotion of off road racing and the motorcycle community.   We are all looking forward to the future and what the Second Gear Club can offer its membership and community.
